M.A.I.E.U.T.I.C. is financed by the General Directive for Education and Culture in the European Commission. The project is promoted by the Local Action Group (LAG), Cape of Santa Maria di Leuca (Tricase – Italy). The other partners in the project are:
• LAG Etanam (Preveza – Greece)
• LAG Anethasa (Poligiros – Greece)
• Region of Apulia, Italy
• Poggiardo, Italy
• The town council of Specchia, Italy
M.A.I.E.U.T.I.C.’s main objective is the promotion of its “town twinning” scheme, which is considered an important instrument in promoting European identity at local level. .
Main Players
All the towns and communities in the European Union are possible partners in the “town twinning” scheme being promoted by the European Commission.
The Actual Area covered by the Project
The areas, which are covered by the LAG project, are the 38 communities (towns) of the province of Lecce, 6 communities (towns) of the prefecture of Preveza (Greece) and the 14 communities (towns) of the prefecture of Halkidiki (Greece).
The Benefits
M.A.I.E.U.T.I.C.
offers its services as a reference point for the realisation of new “town twinning” opportunities throughout the European Union.
M.A.I.E.U.T.I.C. offers advice and support to local town councils and administration offices about the economic, social and regional benefits of the “town twinning” scheme not only for the communities as a whole but also for the individual.
Advice is available via conferences and meetings and all necessary information materials to facilitate “town twinning”.
